Billerica’s choice for sleep apnea treatment

Replace Your CPAP

Reduce obstructive sleep apnea episodes by 60%

With the use of one of our custom oral appliances, you can sleep soundly again. Studies have shown that with this solution, sufficient oxygen is able to reach the lungs by keeping the air passage open throughout the night. Our patients have been excited by this non-surgical treatment that can replace a CPAP. These dental appliances are ideal since they are small, comfortable, and effective. Since they don’t require power, and are very compact, they are easy to transport and ideal for the active adult.

What is Sleep Apnea?

Live Well with a Healthier and Longer Life

Snoring is caused when the jaw opens and the tongue falls into the back of the throat, causing the airway to narrow and forcing air through the small opening. This creates vibrations in the throat known as snoring. Although snoring seems physically harmless, it can be a warning sign of a more serious and dangerous condition called obstructive sleep apnea.

Obstructive sleep apnea occurs when the airway completely collapses, blocking airflow to the lungs. The harder one tries to breathe, the tighter the airway seals. This airway obstruction persists until the brain partially awakens the person, unconsciously closing the jaw and returning the tongue and throat to a normal position. This process can occur 50 or more times per hour while asleep, and meanwhile not enough oxygen is being received by the body.

If left untreated, sleep apnea can cause: memory problems, high blood pressure, increased risk of stroke, decreased life expectancy, weight gain, depression or irritability, difficulty concentrating, impotency, headaches, and daytime fatigue.

Sleep Apnea Appliances

Relieve your symptoms with an oral mouthguard‑style device
Oral Appliance

We offer several oral mouthguard-style appliances which will allow you to sleep better, reduce snoring, and live better than you can without a CPAP machine. These devices don’t require power, distilled water, or any other apparatus to work. Simply put them into your mouth like you would a sports mouthguard and sleep normally.

Contact us today for a free consultation and Dr. Goldberg will assess which option might be best for your needs.
